Semaglutide Injection for Weight Loss

What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a weight loss injection that was first approved by the FDA in 2017 at a lower dose to help control blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide increases insulin secretion while reducing the rate at which the stomach empties food by mimicking a hormone in the body. This suppresses your appetite, allowing you to feel full longer, allowing you to eat less and lose weight.
 

How does the semaglutide injection process work?

• To start your treatment you must attend the initial consultation appointment to determine if you are a candidate for Semaglutide. A complete medical history, family history and a list of medications will be reviewed.

• Patients with lab work done in the last month can bring it in for review. CBC, CMP and TSH must be present. If you do not have recent tests, you can get tested at our offices.

• Your weight loss plan and when to start your first injection will be scheduled after your initial consultation.

• You will need to come to the office once a week to receive your injections.

• You will need to repeat your blood tests (CBC, CMP AND TSH) after 12 weeks.

• Why do I need a blood test for the semaglutide injection procedure?

Blood work is essential to obtain a complete initial assessment of vital organ functions, including kidneys, liver, thyroid, and helps us to identify potential problems such as high cholesterol and diabetes.

Periodic follow-up laboratory tests are required to confirm that your body is responding well to the medication.
